Clay Succulent

 

Description:  In class, we use clay to create a succulent plant. We first made a drawing to see what we wanted our vase to look like. We then started to use the clay and create the base for pulling and shaping. After that, we started to create leaves for the plant. Making sure they weren't too long and too thick. The teachers taught us to score the clay and to water it down to have the two clay pieces stick together. After that, we painted the leaves and the pots.

Extension Activity: We can add this to a science standard and have a class discussion or a short answer reflection describing what plants need to survive. We also have a discussion of different types of plants.
